LLHAA 2019 Postgraduate Bursaries

The Association is pleased to announce the provision of bursaries to assist research postgraduate students to attend the Juris Apocalypse Now! Law In The End Times, Law, Literature and Humanities Association of Australasia Conference. The conference will be held at Southern Cross University, Gold Coast Campus. Conference proceedings will run from 2-4 December 2019 with a postgraduate day held on 5 December 2019.

The Law, Literature and Humanities Association of Australasia (LLHAA) has set aside 2,000AUD for bursaries. Successful candidates enrolled at Australian universities will receive an award of 250AUD, successful candidates enrolled at institutions outside of Australia will be awarded 500AUD in order to assist with the additional cost of travel. Bursaries will be awarded on the basis of academic merit. The exact number of bursaries will be determined by the management committee of the LLHAA.

APPLICATION

Applications for bursaries close on 31st August 2019

Bursaries will be awarded by the Management Committee of the LLHAA.  Successful and unsuccessful applicants will be advised by 31st September 2019.

The Committee’s decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

CRITERIA

  1. Applicants must be enrolled in a PhD, MPhil, Research Masters, or other research postgraduate programme.
  2. Applicants must have a paper selected or submitted to present at Juris Apocalypse Now! Law In The End Times, Law, Literature and Humanities Association of Australasia Conference.
  3. Applicants must provide a brief statement outlining how their paper and postgraduate research contributes to the development of law and the humanities.
  4. Applicants must provide a current CV.

EXPECTATIONS

It will be expected that successful applicants will attend the Postgraduate Workshop on 5 December 2019, as well as attend each day of the main conference.

It will be expected that successful applicants will provide a brief (500 word maximum) (a) overview of their paper; or (b) reflections on the conference for the Law, Literature and Humanities Association of Australasia blog by 28 February 2020.

It will also be expected that the successful applicants will submit a final version of their paper to a relevant peer reviewed journal for publication. Each successful applicant will be assigned a member of the Association’s Management Committee to assist with mentoring the paper through to publication.
